Nigeria and Tianjin Teda midfielder John Mikel Obi has cleared the air on the speculation that he is on his way back to Europe.
Mikel was reported to be in talks with Everton and that the club’s boss Sam Allardyce is keen to bring Mikel back to Europe.
But the player has dismissed the report, saying he want to stay in the Chinese Super League (CSL) and play for Teda.
He said although the CSL lags behind the Premier League, their level is still quite high, and hope more matches will get him in shape for the 2018 World Cup.
Mikel Obi played a key role in Tianjin Teda’s battle to survive relegation after they spent a major part of last season at the wrong end of the table.
